Tradition says that in the 6th century, the noble Saturio, after the death of his parents, he distributed his fortunes between the poor people and he left to live at the caves near the Duero.

There, in a sober and mystic oratory in honor of San Miguel Ancángel, he lived thirty years in a hermetic way.

It is difficult to prove its origin but historically it is said that at the beginning of the 12th century a modest Romanesque church was erected in this place, of which only the present tower remains, in honor of Santo Tomé.
